The weather was hot but the stands were packed for Waynesfield Motorsports Park 2nd annual Jack Hewitt Classic. Along with the non wing sprints, the 1000cc mini sprints, tuff trucks, and compacts were also in action. There were 22 cars fielded in the mini sprint division, breaking down town into 3 heat races. I started 5th in the first heat and winded up finishing 4th. That meant a 10th place starting spot for the A-main. As the green waved, I slowly made my way through the field. After a red flag aroun lap 8, I had made my way up to 7th. When we got back under way, I again began picking up positions. I was passing for 4th with 3 laps to go when the car got too tight and I could not turn. I lost almost all the positions I had gained falling back to 9th which is where I crossed the finish line. It was far from the finish we were looking for, but the car at least came home in one piece unlike the past few weeks.
We race again at Waynesfield on August 28th when the AMSA division returns which should make for some good racing and a lot of race cars there. It was great to see the stands that crowded Saturday night so thanks to everyone for showing up. Hope to see you out there again the 28th.

Another great night of racing at Waynesfield Motorsports Park involved 4 classes: trucks, modifieds, compacts, and for the 1st time this year the AMSA (american mini sprint association) was in action. There were 27 cars in the mini sprint class, the most mini's at Waynesfield all year. I started 6th in the 3rd heat race and could only manage to make my way up to 4th. That left me starting 12th in the A Main. From the green flag, I wasn't making up any ground. The car just was not handling as well as I would've liked. Then, on lap 3, in turns 1&2, 2 cars flipped on the bottom of the track. Another car swerved up the track trying to miss them and spun backwards right in front of me. Having nowhere to go, I slid sideways into the stationary car and spun backwards stopping beside him. As I was sitting backwards, another car that had nowhere to go ran head on into my car. The car probably would have been okay enough to keep going but when I went to start it back up, the throttle hung wide open. Getting back the work area, we found that I got hit so hard, it knocked the throttle bodies out of place and the whole injection system was just laying on top of the motor. I have to thank my crew guys, along with Rick Daugherty for getting me back to the work area, and anyone else who was trying to help get me back on the track. Unfortunately they could not get them safely back on in time before they went back to racing so my night ended early. It was a frustrating end to the night, but thats the way it goes sometimes.
We are off this coming weekend so enjoy the holiday and hope to see you at the track in 2 weeks when we race BOTH Friday July 9th and Saturday July 10th. Thanks for anyone that was there this week. Hopefully next time is a little better result.

The Fowler and Hadding 1000cc mini sprints were back in action at Waynesfield Motorsports Park on Saturday after a few weeks off. There were 19 cars in the field which broke down into 3 heats. I started 5th in the 3rd heat race. I couldnt manage to go anywhere in the heat race and ended up finishing 5th. For the feature I started 15th. As the green flag dropped and the leaders headed into turn 1, there was a huge wreck involving 5 or 6 cars. A lot of cars flipped and were tore up too badly to continue. So after the red flag was over with, I lined back up in 3rd because of all the cars wrecking out. On the green flag, I got around the pole sitter and was running second. By that time, the outside polesitter had gotten a pretty big lead. I started closing in, but not fast enough to be able to catch him until a caution came out. On the restart, he went to the bottom of turns 1 and 2 and I went to the top. Coming off turn 2, I cut underneath him and passed him for the lead. I was taking my time trying to get through lap traffic when Nick Daugherty slid up beside me coming off turn 2 with 2 laps to go. I got around a lap car and beat him into turn 3 and ended up coming home with my 2nd victory of the season.
The mini sprints are at Waynesfield again next Saturday as the AMSA series joins the action.
Thanks to everyone that came out for support last week and hope to see you next week too!

Back at WRP again, the Fowler and Hadding 1000cc mini sprint division had a field of only 8 cars. But the action was just as exciting as any other night. Starting off in the heat races, where there was 2 heats of 4, i started 4th in the 2nd heat. On the start, I went to the outside of everyone and was leading coming off turn two. I led the entire race picking up the win and the heat race points. For the feature, the invert was 8 meaning i had to start in the back again in 7th. After a couple laps, I had reached up to 3rd behind Nick Daugherty and Garry Loney. I got around Garry and set my sights on Nick. By the time I passed Garry, he had a pretty decent 8 car length lead on me. I managed to close the gap with a few laps to go. We raced back and forth, side by side, top and bottom for the final few laps of the race. He was a little better coming off turn 2 and I was better off of 4. When we came to the white flag, he had only a slight edge over me. I followed him down the backstretch and going into turn 3. Coming off 4, I tried to get underneath him and beat him to the line but could not manage to do so. That left me with a 2nd place finish for the night which was much better than last week's result when I ended up flying off turn 2.
We have a few weeks off until we race at WRP again, but we are back on June 19th. Thanks to everyone for coming out and watching and supporting us. See you on the 19th!

As the previous two shows had been rained out at Waynesfield Motorsports Park, everyone was excited to get back to action. Fowler and Hadding 1000cc mini sprints was the first of four classes to run Saturday night. 21 cars made up the mini sprint class which set up for three heats of seven. I drew a bad pill and started last in the third heat. As the race started, I made way through the field quickly putting myself in third position. As I was running down the first place car and passing for second with three laps to go, a radius rod broke on the left side and I was unable to finish. That put me in a bad spot for the A Main, starting 18th.
When the green flag flew, I started picking my way through the field. After an early caution, I managed to reach the top half of the field. I continued to fight my way to the top, reaching as high as 6th place with another caution coming out with seven laps to go. After the green came back out, I was in a battle trying to crack the top five. That's when the events took a turn for the worse. Coming off turn two, I got the car a little too high and hit a rut in the track sending the car flying off the edge of the track. As I flew through the air, the car hit the ground once, bounced up, and flew off a hill about 15 feet off the ground. Thanks to gravity, the car came back to the ground in a hurry flipping over five or six times and came to rest on the right side. Fortunately, I was fine, and the car had damage to the top and front wings only. So that brought an end to my night and I left the track in 15th spot.
Thanks to everyone that came to the track Saturday and sat through the drizzling rain to watch some racing. It wasn't exactly the result we were looking for, but we'll be looking to avenge our results in two weeks as the mini sprint class returns to Waynesfield on Saturday, May 29th. Yes that is MAY 29TH. I know the schedule originally said June 5th, but that was a mistake. Don't miss out on an action packed night of racing! Hope to see you there!!

Saturday kicked off the first weekend of racing at Waynesfield Motorsports Park; and while the weather was cold, the heated racing made up for it. The evening of events started off with a total of ten cars in the revised mini sprint division where you can run either a 600cc and weigh 875, or a 1000cc and weigh 900. The ten cars got separated into two heats of five. I started on the tail of the first heat. While I managed to get up to second before we completed a full lap, the leader was too far ahead for me to get to him. I ended up finishing second. For the feature, the invert was a four, putting the winner of my heat in the fourth starting position and myself on the outside pole. On the start, I jumped out to a quick lead. I led the first ten of twenty laps. On lap eleven, Nick Daugherty got around me and appeared as though was never looking back. But on lap thirteen, the caution flag flew. That brought the field back together. On the restart, Nick went to the bottom and I went to the top. We came off turn 2 battling side by side. After racing hard for two laps, Nick once again pulled out to a lead. However, on lap eighteen the yellow came out once again setting up for a mad dash to the finish. On the restart, once again Nick went to the bottom as I went to the top. Off turn two I pulled into the lead and ended up bringing home the checkered flag.
I would like to thank all the fans for braving the cold conditions and coming out to watch some fantastic racing. Look forward to seeing everyone at the track again on May 1st.
Waynesfield Motorsports Park opened up Sunday, September 27 for its final points race of the season. It was a chilly night for racing but that didnt stop the action. On the schedule was the mini sprints, trucks, non wing sprints, and compacts. There were 16 mini sprints which was enough for 3 heats. I started outside pole of the 2nd heat. On the start i fell in line in 2nd spot. As i caught the leader in turn 3, we made contact which sent me through the infield. I came back onto the track in 3rd. I ended up back in 2nd by the time the checkered flag flew. In the feature, I again started on the outside pole. This time I got out to a lead and never looked back. There was one caution, but on the restart i resumed my commanding lead and came home with the victory. For the season I had 3 wins and finished 2nd in points behind Garry Loney.
I would like to say congrats to Garry on the championship and A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL OF THE FANS AND SPONSORS FOR THE SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. It was a great season and I hope to see you all again at the track next year.
On the schedule at Waynesfield Motorsports Park for August 29 was non wing 410 sprint cars, trucks, compacts, and mini sprints. There were only ten mini sprints in the field, so 5 in each heat. I started on the pole of the first heat and went on to win. They drew a 6 for the invert so i started 6th in the A Main. On the start i moved into 3rd behind Garry Loney and Mikey Helterbran. The caution flag flew after Loney's muffler fell off which caused him to go to the tail of the field. That left me in 2nd on the restart. One lap after the restart, I was able to get under Helterbran coming off turn 2. The caution came out again a lap after that. On the final restart of the race, I pulled out to a commanding lead and ended up taking home the victory. That was the 2nd win of the '09 season.
Our next race at Waynesfield is September 27. That is the final points race of the year.
Thanks to all the sponsors and fans for the support. Hope to see you the 27th.
After just over a month of being off, the mini sprint division was back at Waynesfield Motorsports Park. It was a big night at Waynesfield as the track hosted the first annual Jack Hewitt Classic. The mini sprint class was the first of four on the track and had 15 cars set to battle it out. In the heat race, i started on the outside pole and went on to the win. The invert drawn was 4 so i started 3rd in the A main. After a bad start i came out running 5th. On the final lap i was able to get into 4th position which is where i ended the night.
Thanks to everyone who showed up to support us. We are racing at Waynesfield the next two saturdays barring any rain that comes into play. Hope to see you at the track next weekend.
The first and only friday night action of the year at Waynesfield Motorsports Park got under way with the Dirt Late Model Series coming into town. Them, along with the trucks and mini sprints were the only 3 divisions in action. I started 6th in the first of two heats made up of 17 cars. I was running 5th and was passing for 3rd and 4th when the car started to spin. Another car hit me back straight so there was no caution but i was far behind the leaders. I ended up finishing 6th in the heat which meant i was starting 11th. After a few cautions, I had managed my way up to 5th. On the restart, one car got by me. The next lap, trying to work my way back around him, I spun coming off turn 2. As i was sitting there, another car which had no other place to go ran into me and i tipped over on the left side and skidded down the backstretch for a few feet. Luckily I was fine but the car didnt suffer a similar fate. I was unable to finish the race as i got towed back to the pits. The accident knocked me back to a 14th place finish.
Our next race is Saturday July 25 at Waynesfield so stop out if your looking for something to do and watch some great racing.
Thanks to everyone that supports us week in and week out. See you next week.
